Season: 6 - 14 June 1980
The Bald Prima Donna
By Eugene Ionesco
Directed by Don McAra

This is an hilariously maniacal assault on the banality of English suburbia. A family is discussed, every member of which is called Bobby Watson; a young couple is alarmed to find that they have been married for years. For such people, words can have no meaning. The play ends in a crescendo of non-sequiturs.

Cast:
Mr Smith - William Direen
Mrs Smith - Mary Gray
Mr Martin - Peter Elliott
Mrs Martin - Judith Geare
The Maid - Cherie Slade
The Fire Chief - Craig Dixon

The Lesson
By Eugene Ionesco
Directed by David Bridges

The Professor's private lesson begins well: his pupil seems remarkably gifted. Suddenly he discovers she cannot subtract. The lesson gets more frenzied as he persists in forcing her to understand subtraction. Maddened by her insensibility, he stabs her. The maid clucks with dismay. This, she complains, is the fortieth to be stabbed today.

Cast:

The Professor - Guss de Koster
The Pupil - Anne Jones
Marie, the Maid - Jennie Goodman
