The Play
Angela, middle-aged and recently divorced from her husband of many years, is navigating unfamiliar territory. She learned that her husband had been having an affair with a much younger woman, her adult daughter tells her that she was the only person who didn’t know about the affair, which has been going on for a long time.
Alone with only her family dog, Axal, for company, Angela embarks on a new chapter of her life. She goes on holiday solo, rediscovers her sexuality, explores sex shops, visits her doctor for many minor ailments and learns how to celebrate birthdays, Easter, and Christmas on her own. Angela even takes herself on an outward-bound holiday, wondering if it will fulfil all her desires and aspirations.
The play looks at themes such as late in life divorce, middle-aged loneliness, how a person functions once children have left the nest, life experiences and how to cope when the world you have built comes crashing down.
Angela – 45years upwards
This is a one-woman show, approx. 90 minutes long. The successful Angela will be on stage the entire time.
Audition Process
When you book your audition slot we will send you a few pages of the script so you can familiarise yourself with them. The audition will involve reading from those pages and a cold read of other parts of the play.

The inaugural Pink Hammer Workshop is an absolute disaster.

Not the sort of women to back down from a challenge, the group convince Woody to teach them the tricks of the trade in this heart-warming Kiwi comedy that also reveals something deeper about human relationships.
The Cast: (ages indication only)

Wants to build: a Victorian-style display cabinet for her complete works of Dickens.

Wants to build: a small house one day.
Helen: Late 50s – 60s. Prefers horses to people. She has two grown-up sons to different fathers, both of whom were jockeys. She has never married.

Wants to build: a luxury dog kennel to snugly house Martin’s labradoodle.
Woody: 30s. A carpenter recently made redundant. Married for four years to Maggie. Recently separated. Knows about tools but thinks empowerment is something you plug in to a wall socket.
Wants to build: a way to get these bloody women out of his workshop.
