By John Dole
Directed by Doug Clarke

Season: 25 February - 7 March 1987

A holiday camp is the setting for John Dole's classic farce- a holiday camp converted from an ex-Army camp and cheerless as only the British holiday resort in a wet week can be. Christopher has had the romantic notion of bringing his wife Mary away for a holiday in celebration of their first wedding anniversary. Mary has saved until they arrive the lovely surprise that her mother will be joining them. Horace, a chesty old misery who is their Redcoat and Fun-Leader, contributes to the general atmosphere of gloom and the virile athleticism of Miss Bounce, the camp P.T. instructor, nearly finishes poor Christopher altogether. Mary seems to be convinced that Christopher is in the clutches of one of their fellow guests, who happens to be a stripper, and goes home to mother in the chalet next door. The final straw comes when the Camp Hostess· announces that Christopher has won first prize in the Bingo contest- another week's holiday at the Sandpiper Holiday Camp.
