Unfortunately Kate McNeill has had to withdraw from "Always A Bridesmaid", and she has been replaced by Stella Cheersmith in the role of Kari. Stella has been involved in several other Elmwood Players productions, including "Holes" and "Jumpy".
“LEAVES OF GLASS”
By Philip Ridley | Directed by Garry Thomas Saturday 21 April (By appointment) On stage from Thurs 14 June (Please note new performance dates) To book an audition time, and/or for further information contact Gaz on 021 453138 or email [email protected] Known for his dark disturbing dramas, Ridley's “Leaves Of Glass” is a deeply human drama that shifts between elegy for the past and a chilling exploration of the power of loss and grief. A sharp, complex play about two brothers and the grim hold that their memories have on them. Barry is an artist who works for his older brother Stephen; Stephen is a successful business man with a beautiful wife and house, but absolutely no interest in his wife’s pregnancy. A series of flashback monologues describe the brothers’ father and his suicide, and slowly uncovers the depths of their grief and trauma. The characters of the play are haunted by the ghosts of lies that the family has told to keep going, and by the pain they have not been able to bury. Cast: Stephen (27) Barry (22) Debbie (33) Liz (55) (Note: Ages are an indication only) “Leaves Of Glass” takes place in a variety of locations and spanning many months. It has seventeen scenes, no interval and a run time of around two hours. “Ridley is a visionary” – Rolling Stone Magazine “…like a shard of glass plunged straight into the heart” – The Guardian “…truly an emotional powerhouse of a play, I feel the real weight of Ridley’s words right to my core” - The Scribe |
