The Play
A play about the beginnings of psychotherapy, the setting is the criminal wing of Bethlem Hospital for the Insane, Southwark, London, 1854. The story is told from the point of view of two doctors working within the criminal wing of Bethlem Asylum. Doctors Charles Hood and George Haydon strive separately for alternatives to the medieval horrors of restraint, but are united in their abhorrence of such institutionalised brutality.
Talk delves into the complexities of mental health, particularly focusing on the impact of loss and the journey of healing.
Given the subject matter this play will be highly challenging and demanding for those cast.
Auditions
You will be required to present a monologue of your choice, up to 3 mins. Scripts for a cold read will be available in the foyer prior to your audition.
Please arrive 10 mins before your audition time to fill in the form and review the script provided.
